The Cavett PTO is a group of dedicated parents, teachers, and administrators working together to enhance the education of the students at Cavett Elementary. We are excited for the 2024-2025 school year and hope that you take advantage of the numerous opportunities to participate in different PTO activities. The Cavett PTO is dedicated to providing resources and support to Cavett students and their families.

PTO Vice President: Meghan Schulz-Memming

 

Meghan is from Lincoln and attended Ruth Hill and Humann Elementary schools, Pound Middle, and Lincoln Southeast. She graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism degree from UNL. Meghan is a Flight Attendant for Delta and is based in Minneapolis. She’s married to Brandon who is a computer programmer for Cabela’s/Bass Pro. He is also from Lincoln and attended Belmont Elementary, Goodrich Middle, and Lincoln High schools.
Their daughter, Sylvie is in 5th grade, and their son, Theo is in 1st grade.
Meghan enjoys crafting, knitting, and reading in her spare time, as well as soaking up as much family time as possible.

“I love being part of the PTO and working behind the scenes on so many fun events. I’m proud to be involved in such an amazing school.”


PTO Treasurer: Kent Keiser

Kent grew up in Juniata, NE. He moved to Lincoln to attend UNL where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Management. Kent works for the State of Nebraska as an IT Infrastructure Analyst. Kent and his wife, Laurie, have one daughter, Maya, a 4th grader. Kent enjoys working on home improvement projects, playing with any new gadget he can get his hands on, and taking Maya to all of her various activities.

"I enjoy being part of the PTO to help make sure our students and teachers always have what they need to be successful, and have as much fun as they can while doing it."

PTO Secretary: Jami Fought

Jami is originally from southwest Nebraska and has lived in Lincoln since 1998. 
She is employed as an office manager at Southwest Pediatric Dentistry where her husband, Greg, is the dentist/owner. They have 4 children; Tre’ (30) who lives in Newark, New Jersey; Taylen (27) who lives in Ann Arbor, MI; Kyson who is in 6th grade and Emi who is in 4th grade at Cavett Elementary. They also have a puppy, Joey Tribiani. 
Jami enjoys traveling, photography, baking, party planning, taking walks, and any DIYing! 


“I love being part of the PTO as I see it as being a voice and advocate for the children! 
I also love planning fun things for them and watching the kids grow through the year!”


Volunteer & Fundraising: Meghan Albenesius

Meghan was born and raised in Lincoln, attending Pyrtle Elementary and Lincoln East Jr./Sr. High School before earning her Communications degree from Hastings College. She now works as an Account Executive for Hamilton Business Technologies. Meghan and her husband, Eric, have two boys; Leo, who graduated from Cavett last year, and Jack, who is entering 3rd grade this year. Outside of work, she enjoys singing with the Abendmusik Choir, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

"I’m excited to be part of the PTO and to support our students, staff, and school community in making this year a great one!"


PTO Member at Large: Sylvia Sengdara

 

Sylvia and her husband, Dannee are both from two small towns in rural Nebraska. They are employed at National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) in Lincoln. Sylvia is a Benefit Support Services Assistant and her husband, Dannee is a Senior Analyst. They have two daughters, Ariya (10), who is in 5th grade and Selah (6), who is in 1st grade. They also have one dog named Honor. Their family enjoys outdoor activities such as gardening, fishing, cooking, visiting parks, and traveling. They value spending time with family, creating lasting memories and new traditions.

"My goal as your PTO Member at Large is to represent the interest of our children, their families, and our school, while creating awareness for how we can give back to the community. I look forward to achieving our goals, making connections, and nurturing the needs of our Cavett families."


PTO Member at Large: Britni Wilbrand

Britni is from Alliance, NE and moved to Lincoln to attend UNL where she got her teaching degree in elementary education and early childhood. She works part-time as a preschool teacher and owns a small business designing and creating jewelry. Her husband, Tony, is a software engineer and together they have three kids: Eli is a senior at Southwest, Trey is a 8th grader at Scott, and Maci is a 5th grader at Cavett.

"Being on the PTO has really helped me to feel connected with the staff, the school, and the entire Cavett community. I would highly encourage all families to find ways to get involved and help make Cavett the wonderful place it is."


Past President: Jenny Wagoner

Jenny grew up in Wood River, NE and moved to Lincoln after graduating college. She's married to Phillip and has two boys, 8th grader, Mason, and 5th grader, Joel. Jenny works for Schneider Electric as an HR Manager. Jenny enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and playing piano. 

"I love being part of the PTO to help create lasting memories for all of our students at Cavett, and to support the staff and their needs." 


Administrative Advisor: Kathleen Dering, Principal

Kathleen grew up in  Wayne, NE, attended high schools in Wayne, Arizona, and Springfield, MO. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and started her teaching career in San Francisco, CA in 1989. After a few years there, she moved back to the midwest and taught in the Blue Valley School District in Kansas while earning her Masters Degree at the University of Kansas-Lawrence. She met her husband in 1998 and moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where she continued to teach before becoming an elementary principal in the early 2000s. Together, with their daughter Hanna, they moved to Nebraska in 2011 - returning to their roots and to a family owned farm. Hannah is now happily married ~ living the ranching life with her husband in Western Nebraska and serving their community as a nurse!

"Your children and our Cavett staff are the WHY I love my work. I'm thankful that my 35 years as an educator has given me the opportunity to serve families in 5 states and 10 school districts. I can't imagine doing it any other way - the staffs and families I've worked with along this journey have resulted in the greatest memories and experiences. I absolutely love our Cardinal community and strive to create a community where teachers and your children LOVE coming to school!!"
